 Windows95/98 Dialup Network Setup Instructions - PPP
* for use with Shore Communications *

The following instructions will enable you to utilize the features implemented in Windows95/98. Following these step by step instructions will have your connection to Shore Communications established in less than 5 minutes.

NOTE: any deviation outside of these setup instructions whatsoever will undoubtedly cause your connection to fail. If at anytime you are in doubt about these instructions or just have questions, contact our office immediately for assistance.

Step 1. Make sure "Dial-Up Networking" installed. Double click on "My Computer" to find out. The graphic below represents a Windows machine with dialup networking installed. If you see the dialup networking folder, proceed to Step 2. If you do not see the "Dial-Up Networking" folder, contact Shore Communications for further assistance.

Step 2: Creating a Dialup connection to Shore Communications
  1. Double click on the DIAL-UP NETWORKING Icon.
  2. Double click on MAKE NEW CONNECTION
  3. In the TYPE A NAME.. box, enter ShoreCom.
  4. Your modem should be listed in the modem box.
  5. Enter 732 in the AREA CODE box.
  6. Enter 920-3926 in the TELEPHONE NUMBER box.
  7. Click the FINISH button.
  8. You should now have an icon labeled ShoreCom in the Dial-Up Networking folder.
  9. Right Click on your ShoreCom icon, then Click on PROPERTIES.
  10. Under the "Server Types" Tab, make sure you deselect all but "Enable Software Compression" and "TCP/IP." The default server type "PPP:Windows NT Server ... " should be left alone.
